Our History
First National Bank of Shiner was founded in 1891, one year after Shiner was incorporated as a city. In that year, Confederate Captain and local rancher Charles Welhausen established a private bank for the growing railroad town.

In 1900 Captain Charlesâ€™ private bank became federally chartered. The First National Bank of Shiner is to this day still privately owned and operated and has proven to be a strong financial institution and civic leader.

In 2001, a Texas Historical Commission marker was placed at the bank to commemorate the history of the First National Bank of Shiner.
