On September 25, 1997, San Angelo National Bank became San Angelo's newest and largest financial institution with the merger of two leading banks in San Angelo: Southwest Bank and Texas Commerce Bank.

San Angelo National Bank has roots back to 1884. In 1972 San Angelo National Bank became a part of the Texas Commerce Bank network of banks but kept its name until 1982 when it changed to Texas Commerce Bank-San Angelo.

Southwest Bank was founded in 1975 on the southwest edge of San Angelo and became a leader in the development of southwest San Angelo. Southwest Bank provided exceptional customer service and was recognized as a major contributor to the community through the annual Spring Chicken Affair, a benefit for the West Texas Rehabilitation Center. After the merger, the new bank readopted the name San Angelo National Bank to reflect its rich history in banking and service to the community.

In 2009 San Angelo National Bank changed its name to First Financial Bank to join under one brand with the rest of First Financial Bankshares

First Financial Bank has a strong and solid future. FFB is locally managed and West Texas owned enabling banking products and services to be tailored to our customers' diverse needs.
