In these challenging economic times, we at American Bank of Texas (“ABTâ€) want to once again express our gratitude for your business. We know that you have more options than ever before when it comes to banking services. We feel honored that you choose to do your banking with us. You can take comfort in the fact that ABT remains financially strong and exceptionally well capitalized. There are many reasons why we are in this enviable position. Here are just a few:
•All of ABT’s operating profits are retained in the bank. Our owners, Lacy and Dorothy Harber, have never taken a single dividend from our company. This fact has allowed us to grow while building our capital base to levels unparalleled in the industry.
•We have confidence and faith in the communities we serve. The citizens and businesses that reside in our trade area represent individuals and entities that are resourceful and determined to succeed. We remain committed to assisting them in their efforts.
•We invest in things we understand. We generate the majority of our income by making loans to customers that engage in activities wherein we possess the requisite level of expertise to appropriately underwrite the specific request. We don’t invest in high risk, out-of-territory transactions or exotic securities. These are the types of transactions that caused a significant amount of the problems that the larger financial institutions are having.
•We price our products fairly. Whether it is a loan or an interest bearing account, we endeavor to provide the most equitable pricing possible for our customers. We truly believe that if we are fair to our customers, they will be loyal to us. This premise has been a staple of our organization since its inception in 1971.
•We continue to be active in the pursuit of opportunities to assist our customers. While many banks have adopted a “bunker mentality†given the current state of the economy, ABT views this as a time when our communities and customers need us the most. We believe this is the right thing to do. We also think that this approach makes good business sense for the bank.
